Apology in L.A. Shooting Rare From Police
COMPTON, Calif. (AP) -- Residents in this community were still fixing shattered windows and bullet-pocked walls when a lawyer issued an apology from sheriff's deputies who fired 120 rounds at an unarmed driver in a Compton neighborhood.

The May 9 shooting, caught on videotape, left a suspect and deputy wounded. The barrage of bullets penetrated several homes in the quiet neighborhood following a chase.

The televised news conference earlier this month was a rare instance of officers defying a common police taboo against 'mea culpas' - based on the fear of lawsuits or prosecution.

Man Arrested for Wearing Grinch Mask
05-26) 19:01 PDT Wheeling, W.Va. (AP) --

City and county attorneys are defending Wheeling police who arrested a man for wearing a Grinch mask while walking along a city street.

Norman Eugene Gray, 42, was arrested Tuesday. He was arraigned and released on a personal recognizance bond.

St. Louis Police intend to use hidden surveillance cameras at fair and who knows where...
The St. Louis Police Department has announced its intentions to install “spies in the skies” over crowds at Fair St. Louis this year. These are sophisticated remote controlled cameras. The technology was first used to violate the rights of those attending St. Louis Mardi Gras. The cameras will be mounted high on utility poles around the event and controlled wirelessly from vehicles where the images will be transmitted.
