What's so great about the Great Lawn and don't THEY know that grass can be replaced, but this harsh trampling on our civil liberties and our constitution can never be reversed.....

Based on so-called "credible" reports, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge has warned that Osama is now "planning to disrupt the November elections". A large scale attack on American soil is said to be planned by Al Qaeda during the presidential election campaign. "Possible targets" include the Democratic National Convention in July and the Republican Convention in New York in August. While a Coup d'Etat triggered by a code red alert is a distinct possibility in the months ahead, we must understand that the militarisation of civilian institutions in America is an ongoing process.

Miami Police testimony at the CIP hearing yesterday, February 5, 2004, consistently provided justification for police misconduct, but it was full of lies and contradictions.
| Commentary: Demonizing Free Speech | 15-Dec-03 03:00 |
If there was any consistent message sent out by the media, it was to demonize the protesters, and, by implication, protest itself. That’s a rather strange activity for institutions that depend for their professional existence on the First Amendment. To hear the media tell it, anyone going downtown during those days was asking for trouble and should not complain if he or she found some.

Secretary of Homeland Security Ridge and other panelists spoke at a Town Hall Meeting in Miami on Tuesday. It was pure propaganda, but what I saw were fear and lies.
For a secure hour-and-a-half, the panelists congratulated themselves and police on all the good work they are doing. “Secure” because all attendees were required to pre-register and no bags were allowed in the room. “Secure” because there was no danger that civil liberties would factor into the discussion at any time. “Secure” because the panelists clearly felt safely ensconced in their Homeland Security illusions.
