Boston – The rights of citizens and visitors to speak out during the upcoming Democratic National Convention (DNC) has become a hot issue on the eve of the event.

United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ) condemns an executive order issued by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue declaring a “state of emergency” throughout six coastal counties in Georgia.  Perdue issued the highly unusual declaration to spread fear and interfere with fundamental constitutional rights to protest at an upcoming summit of international leaders. 

The Miami Model is blowing into Georgia and must be stopped.

Join outraged members of the community, people of faith, representatives of civil liberties, global justice and labor organizations in demanding that State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle drop the charges against the remaining 50 people facing illegitimate charges stemming from the Miami demonstrations against the Free Trade Areas of the Americas (FTAA) in November 2003.
